Cooking eggs perfectly every time requires attention to timing and temperature, as well as understanding the desired doneness for different egg dishes. Here are some tips for cooking eggs perfectly:

  1. Fried Eggs: For sunny-side up eggs, heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and add a little butter or oil. Crack the egg into the skillet and cook it gently until the whites are set, but the yolk is still runny. For over-easy eggs, gently flip the egg and cook for a few more seconds on the other side.

  2. Scrambled Eggs: Whisk the eggs in a bowl until well combined. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and add a little butter. Pour the eggs into the skillet and gently stir them with a rubber spatula as they cook. Remove the skillet from the heat just before they are fully set, as residual heat will continue cooking them.

  3. Boiled Eggs: For soft-boiled eggs with a runny yolk, bring a pot of water to a boil and gently lower the eggs into the water. Cook for 4-5 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. For hard-boiled eggs, cook them for about 9-12 minutes before transferring to an ice bath.

  4. Poached Eggs: Bring a pot of water to a simmer and add a splash of vinegar. Crack the egg into a small bowl or ramekin. Create a gentle whirlpool in the water and slide the egg into the center. Poach for about 3-4 minutes until the white is set, but the yolk is still runny.

  5. Omelette: Whisk the eggs in a bowl until well combined and season with salt and pepper. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little butter or oil. Pour the eggs into the skillet and cook until the edges start to set. Add your desired fillings (cheese, vegetables, etc.) to one side of the omelette, then fold the other side over the fillings. Cook for a bit longer until the omelette is fully set and the fillings are warm.

As for my favorite way of cooking eggs, it's hard to choose just one! But if I had to pick, I'd say I love a well-made omelette. It's so versatile, and you can get creative with various fillings to suit your taste preferences. Whether it's a classic cheese and ham omelette or a veggie-filled one, I always find omelettes satisfying and delicious.
