Bacon is typically cooked on the stove or in the oven. Here are the two most common methods:
Stovetop method:
- Place the bacon slices in a cold frying pan or skillet in a single layer.
- Turn the heat to medium-low or medium. Cooking on lower heat helps render the fat and prevents the bacon from burning.
- Allow the bacon to cook, flipping occasionally, until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. This usually takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon and your preference for crispiness.
- Once cooked, remove the bacon from the pan and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
Oven method:
- Preheat your oven to around 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Lay the bacon slices on the baking sheet, making sure they don't overlap.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and let the bacon cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of crispiness.
- Once done, remove the bacon from the oven and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess grease.
Regardless of the cooking method, always remember to handle hot surfaces with care and use appropriate kitchen tools to avoid burns or injuries. Also, be cautious of hot splattering grease while cooking bacon on the stove.
