The first electric washing machine in America was created in 1907. It was called the "Thor" washing machine and was manufactured by the Hurley Machine Company of Chicago. The Thor was the first electric-powered washing machine that was mass-produced and made washing clothes easier and more efficient for households. Before electric washing machines, manual hand-cranked or gas-powered washing machines were used, but the introduction of electric models marked a significant advancement in laundry technology.
