To get 8 pieces of a cake with just two cuts, follow these steps:

  1. First Cut: Slice the cake horizontally through the middle, creating two equal halves.

  2. Second Cut: Stack the two halves on top of each other, and then slice vertically through the middle.

Now, you have 8 pieces of cake! Each cut creates two pieces, and the two cuts combined create 4 pieces from the first cut and another 4 pieces from the second cut, resulting in 8 pieces in total.
